I don't usually write reviews, however I found that after watching season two of Higurashi, I simply had to.
Before reading the review I CANNOT stress enough how much it needs to be watched with Season 1. This season builds upon season 1 and adds to it.
I found that the character development in this season was formidable, the characters we grew to love (and possible dislike) from season 1 really showed more layers to themselves. Especially Rika chan was made to be seen in a completely different light,
In terms of story this is where I have to take my hat off to the creator.

The story moved form a psychological thriller/horror to a beautifully developed and explained physiological mystery.
The season made a great job of explaining everything without dumbing it down. There were certain 'OMFG NOW I GET IT' moments which they didn't spell out to you. In doing so it made it a truly beautiful enigma you unfolded at your' own pace.
Art and music remained pretty much the same from season, although I found the use of music effects to be much effective than season 1.
Overall it's an anime that took a completely different path to what I expected from season 1, and for this I think it made a formidable comeback to the disappointments I had in the last arc of season 1.
