This is a great show, one of my favorite of the year so far. It's a fresh and imaginative take on the isekai. Think Alice in Wonderland meets Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. The allegory clips along, making impressive progress without feeling rushed, and while building a unique world with a satisfying sense of deep mystery. Who are the nomads? Why are they cursed, and what blessings will their curses yield? What is the nature of Belle's sword? Where will her journey take her?
Our protagonist Belle is strong, egotistical, feels deeply for her loved ones but remains focused, canny
...
and aloof. The show also offers an impressively broad cast of interesting characters, from wizened beetles to mathemagical rabbits to two-headed kings. Each move through this broad world softly, their own histories and motivations hinted at but hidden, building the drama, playing their role and leaving the stage. The writer has a good command of allegory as a style, just hinting at interpretation, while clearly loves their plot, world and characters; it makes the show shine.
If you're on the fence, this is worth watching.
