This is my first review so please be kind on me ;A;

“Zawsze in love”
Would you remember the promise you made to the person whom you loved 10 years ago?
Nisekoi is a school romantic comedy with an interesting storyline that grasps my attention weekly and has been my routine for my Sunday morning for over 20 weeks. It follows a very standard romcom routine except it has been executed better in terms of gripping me to see who the girl Ichijou had made his promise to be.
Now, enough with the summary, let’s go to the rating.
...
Story: 8/10
Okay, before anyone asks why I put the rating for the story to be so high, let me explain. I am a sucker for romantic comedy and have watched several recommended romcoms circa joining MyAnimeList and I have to say, romcoms always follow a certain template, more or less, in introducing the characters/ couple. However what I found interesting about Nisekoi was that they were forced into their pairs and we all know what THAT would lead to, the mutual hate for each other which results to the violence between the two which also plays as the comedic relief, at times. If you were like me, and had watched several romcoms, you’d know the routine about test of courage, hot spring, school festival and what not.
Art: 9/10
I’m not too sure about this part but I’ll try my best to elaborate this section and the reason for my score. The animation is similar to that of the other Shaft’s production such as Bakemonogatari (which happens to be the only other Shaft production I have had the pleasure of watching). I’m not too picky about the art so anything that’s simple and appeals to my eye gets the point. The constant pattern background when Chitoge lays her tsundere moves or Ichijou’s reaction that happens to be more of a side event appeals to me as a viewer as it is colourful and abstract. The character’s expressions aren’t the best but hey, so long as it isn’t terrible I’m fine.
Characters: 8/10
The characters you see in the show are what you’d expect from any romcom, or if this is your first romcom, it may be what you think it is. Ichijou Raku, the son of the Yakuza, is a kind-hearted individual with a pervy friend, Maiko, who acts as the comedic relief and the mediator, at times.
Next, we move on to Chitoge. She is more or less your average tsundere who is REAAALLLY adorable wants her dere side shows (such as Inaba from Kokoro Connect). Next, we have Ichijou’s pseudo-harem made up of his childhood friends who know each other, Marika and Onodera. The two are somewhat unique characters that got me looking forward to the next episode to find out their personality. I wouldn’t go talking about them as it may be a very big spoiler for some of you who appreciate character development so… moving on!~
Sound: 9/10
A catchy opening and an ending which suits how each episode ends is what appeals to me. Nisekoi has, without a doubt, a catchy opening that constantly plays in my head. The background music suits the situation, more so the awkward ones than others, nicely.
The character’s voices are what catches my attention more. Each character has a voice that, I would say, is perfectly suited to the characters’ personality such as Onodera being innocent and Chitoge being the violent-yet-cute tsundere.
Enjoyment: 9/10
As stated, so many times, I have yet to refine my taste in romcom and what I enjoy is simplicity itself. Nisekoi, however, is not simply a romcom anime. In the show, it injects colourful gags and a little slice of life later on in the series. Earlier in the anime, the rather interesting storyline grasped my attention every Sunday morning. A special shout-out to the supporting characters such as Maiko and Miyamoto for making the series brighter when I needed to. I especially enjoyed the later few episodes in the series as it made me feel as though I could relate to Ichijou’s situation and that’s what piqued my interest in seeing how it ended.
Overall: 8.8/10
From start to end, Nisekoi has been nothing but wonderful, apart from having to wait a week for the next episode which made me hooked on it. Other than that, there’s nothing left to say which is spoiler-free. If you’re like me and love romcoms, I’d recommend Nisekoi. Especially so if you’ve watched Toradora.
P.S: I hope you guys enjoyed my review, SANKYU!
