Mhm. This season has quite a few sequels. I'm kind of excited for Sidonia no Kishi S2 as well. Winter was unimpressive.
I had a fanfic phase back in junior high. I've always been more of a writer though. XD
For me, it gives me a chance to marathon finished series, which I appreciate. Seasonals eat up a lot of my free time. :(
Aki no Kanade was a great surprise. Try Omoide Poroporo if you get the chance. I even ended up making a rec for the two series. :D
(Though I love Omoide Poroporo - my favorite Ghibli movie.)
Spring so far has been average to disappointing. Though I still have a few series to start, so not all hope is lost.
I would keep an eye on Hibike! Euphonium though, I thought the first episode was quite impressionable. Great animation and characters. Might come up trumps.
Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation so far is my dark horse of the season, it's intriguing and not blasting me with crap (yet) despite its apparent generic-ness.
Kekkai Sensen has potential, first episode was flashy and gorgeous, but it's hard to determine how much substance it will have. My wildcard.
Arslan Senki: HUGE shame that it isn't an adaption of the original novel. But if it sticks to Arakawa's version it will be at least decent. A safe play.
Still waiting on about 6 series to start. All with potential.
Well first of all, I would start with the old series. I'm not sure if you've seen anything Gintama, but it's a series in its own league. As a comedy it's well-written (not mindless gag comedy) and trolling. And, it's actually funny. Except the first 20 episodes, which most everyone agrees is terrible. But it also has epic moments (the staff blow budget on action episodes quite a few times XD), and some great characters.
I would just go ahead and watch the original if I were you. It's MALs #1 series for a reason. Overrated perhaps, but much more deserving than most overrated series.

What're you planning to watch, if any?
