Attack On Titan

Summary
Attack On Titan takes place in a dystopian world where humans live in constant fear of having their city destroyed by 10 meter tall flesh eating humanoid creatures called “Titans”.
The only human city introduced thus far has developed a military system used solely for protecting the city against titans. The protagonist, Eren Jaeger, has passionately and zealously strived to join the military division called the Scout Regiment that goes beyond the confines of the city to explore and eventually reclaim land that the titans have inhabited.

the city, Eren discovers that he has the ability to transform into a titan. However, there are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, Eren has little control over how he behaves while in titan form and secondly, many civilians and high ranking military members believe that somehow, Eren is working against humanity and for the titans. Eventually, after much deliberation, Eren is allowed to join the scout regiment under strict surveillance by the captain to help hunt down the extra-powerful abnormal titans.
Upsides
Attack On Titan is a well done and unique anime. There is the expected large amount of heart pacing action, but there is also a good amount of psychological action which often gets overlooked or forgotten. The psychological action comes in the form of the military members endeavouring to figure out whether there are more people with the ability to transform into a titan, who they are, what their motives are and why they have their abilities.
Downsides
The downsides are scarce and mostly inconsequential in Attack On Titan. However little, there are still a couple. The first few episodes may leave some viewers underwhelmed and disinterested as they mainly consist of the city preparing for and defending against titan attacks. Nonetheless, the series takes a dramatic turn for the better when Eren realizes his power.
The only other downside might be that almost everything Eren does is over dramatic. The author might have gone a bit overboard on Eren’s charismatic and over-zealous qualities. It often seems like everything he says is meant to inspire either the viewer or another character. He does not often succeed in inspiring the viewer and his constant attempts at it can become irritating.

Sword Art Online
(seasons 1 and 2)

Summary
Sword Art Online is about a virtual reality video game that that has been diabolically designed so that logging out is impossible; logging out is only possible once the game has been beaten. But the biggest twist is that death in the video game equals death in real life.
The main characters are Kirito and Asuna. A love story quickly develops around these too as they use their skills to continually try to beat the game as well as helping others survive along the way.
Upsides
The uniqueness of the story is beneficial to viewers. There have not been many other animes

that have infused video games and life and death situations.
After going through many life and death situations themselves Kirito and Asuna develop a strong bond with one another that is captured throughout the story.
Downsides
As unique and exciting as the plot may sound, the writing makes the plot anticlimactic and boring. Sword art Online does not follow Kirito and Asuna throughout their entire journey; instead it just follows them through a few of their more intense fight scenes which can come months after each other according to the date that appears at the beginning of most episodes. This can be annoying. Also the fight scenes are painfully predictable. There is almost never a point where you doubt the fact that Kirito will win as he establishes himself as being virtually omnipotent for no apparent reason after the first couple episodes.
Even if for some reason one really enjoys the fight scenes in Sword Art Online they won’t be too pleased with the anime. This is because the better part of the anime is spent with Kirito and Asuna going on picnics and flirting with each other.
After the first arc where they are trapped inside the video game the story somehow manages to get worse. It really seemed like the writer had no idea what was going to happen after the first arc so he just kind of made it up as he went along. However the Death Gun arc that takes pace later in the series does present itself as better than all of the arcs that occur after the first one. Even so that is not saying much. There is even an arc that is simply Kirito and his friends trying to find an item in a video game where it doesn’t matter if they die because they won`t die in real life! Most of the series is tantamount to waiting in line for your chance to play a video game.

Summary
Death Note is about an average high school kid with above average intelligence named Light Yagami. Light finds a book on the ground with the title ‘Death Note’ inscribed on it. The magical book has the power to kill anyone whose name is written in the book as long as that person’s face is being pictured in the mind of the writer as they jot down their victim’s name.

Light’s main antagonists are a team of Japanese detectives led by a super genius who goes simply by ‘L’.
Upsides
Death Note is filled with non-stop action in every episode. There are always deep, psychological battles happening as the detectives try to capture Light.
There is also a great blend of fantasy that is mixed into this anime with the involvement of a Shinigami that comes with the Death Note and it works out really well.
Another major pro to this anime is Light relationship with his father who his on the team of detectives bent on stopping Light.
Death Note is most certainly a major accomplishment in the anime genre and is definitely a masterpiece.
Downsides
As mentioned above Death Note is a masterpiece and therefore has very little if any flaws. If there is one flaw in Death Note it is that most of the action occurs in psychological battles rather than physical ones. However this shouldn’t turn anyone away as the psychological battles are as entertaining as any physical battle.

Shaman King

Summary
Shaman King is about a young shaman named Yoh who is participating in the upcoming Shaman Fight. The winner of the Shaman fight will obtain the all-powerful Great Spirit as their ally and will subsequently become omnipotent.
Yoh and many of the other participating shamans are working hard not only to increase the chances of themselves winning but also so they can defeat Hao, the very powerful shaman who has vowed to use the Great Spirit to rid the world of all humans if he wins.
Upsides

Downsides
The writing in Shaman King is disinteresting at times the fact that the story drags on for way too long does in no way help put a bandage on the mediocre writing. After such a long manga one would expect to have a very entertaining ending but that is definitely not the case. The ending is as anticlimactic an ending as you will ever see.
The art is very unorthodox at times can be irritating, but for the most part it doesn’t interfere with the story.
The story also lacks seriousness in the way that pretty much every enemy Yoh faces ends up becoming good and joining Yoh’s team.

Review for seasons 1 and 2
Summary
Code Geass takes place in a dystopian future where a group called “Brittania” has taken over most of the world. Japan is ruled by Brittania and the Japanese people that originally lived are forced to live in slums and do not have access to equal rights and resources.
Lelouch is part of the royal Britannian family and after gaining the power to make people obey him simply by looking them in the eye, he vows vengeance on Britannia and endeavours to obtain equal rights for the Japanese by whatever means necessary.

The relationships Lelouch has with a childhood friend who is now fighting in the Britannian army is a very captivating part of this anime. There are also many other interesting relationships, such as Lelouch and his friend and family member Euphemia who also thinks that what Britannia Is oding is wrong but refuses to take thew same drastic and homicidal measures that Lelouch does
Downsides
This anime focuses more on riveting plot twists, dramatic deaths and intense fight scenes rather than the writing and fort his reason the writing is a bit weak at times. However, this is just a minor flaw and it is still very much an enjoyable anime.

Naruto is one of the most famous and most popular animes of all time and it deserves the hype. The story takes place in a world where ninjas are very powerful and are a valuable and necessary government resource. The story centers around a young, ambitious, over-zealous boy named Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto dreams of becoming a very strong, formidable ninja and one day The Hokage (The leader of Naruto’s village. Upsides
Naruto is one of the most famous and most popular animes of all time and it deserves the hype. Naruto is filled with many intense, dramatic battle scenes against enemy ninjas and has many likeable charismatic characters that you are guaranteed to fall in love with. Furthermore, Naruto has an always interesting, ever-changing storyline that goes far beyond fight scenes i.e., Naruto’s love/hate relationship with Sasuke who is a naturally gifted ninja that is always pushing Naruto to do better. Naruto and co. also offer a substantial amount of humour to go along with the stellar action and spectacular story.
Downsides
There aren’t many downsides to Naruto. That being said, there are some. One of the most prominent flaws being the slow pace, for example, the fist arc which really isn’t much more than an introduction to the main characters lasts about 15 episodes.
A big, but avoidable problem is the number of fillers. Alost 90 of the 220 episodes have no relevance to story are frankly, garbage. Luckily, thanks to the wonderful resource that is the internet, one can easily find which episodes are fillers and subsequently, skip them. But if you are a hard core Naruto fan and sitting through hours of episodes that have nothing to do with the story, there is nothing wrong with that.
At first glance, the young ages of most of the main characters may turn a few people away. It never actually states how old Naruto is but he appears to be about 10ish. But it really is irrelevant. Before long you will be indifferent to the ages of the kids.
