While Elfen Lied is a great anime, I would not recommended it to everyone. Sadly to get through it you must progress through blood, gore, and way too much nudity. It has a beautifully tragic storyline that would not be quite as brilliant without the gore and darkness that expresses the gravity of each situation. The nudity however, is just a something you have to deal with; which while it reflects the cruel treatment that the diclonii experience, it is way overused. Regrettably, there is no censored version, so you'll probably need to be prepared to block/look away from the screen. Nevertheless, it contains a ... powerful plot, and should not just be dismissed as a bad anime. In summary I would call it a diamond in the center of a thick muddy swamp.
