I remember the day when I searched for any good comedy anime. I was somehow really depressed that day, and I needed something to cheer on. I always loved to watch anime, where the boys had their lead role, I never was a fan of 'kawaii, sugoi' girls, with voice of babydolls, so while scrolling for a nice anime, what catched my eyes was the cover of a few boys, two young looking, and the rest was a handsome adults, but all of them was purely Bishōnens . (The mean character) shouted that he must be the first person to be flushed out from toireto. First two episodes, made me happy and excited for series, even If I mostly watch 12 or 14 episodes anime, and was sceptic at start when I saw 78 - At the end I was really sad that they didn't made it as long as Naruto.
Storyline. - I'm not fan of old times, where the lands are covered of grass, on which horses and knights treads full of pride, and where local characters never heared of TV. But to be honest, when I watched this anime, I felt kind feelings of love to such times. Every episode was full of action, and new secrets, which also grow into puzzles, where its not that difficult to grab right element. Every place the characters visit, every person they met, everything was a key to the ending. In this anime you won't find 4 boys, eating ramen and talking about nonsens. This anime will show you, how world and people around can love you, when you share happiness and peace with them. It shows how friendship can last, and how we can join together as a group to become one united nation, no matter who you are. The magic powers, make this anime, more exciting.
Art. - I really liked how the characters looked, the thing about Mazoku looking younger was really great idea, so I as a watcher, didn't have to look at old people, trying to save the world. I loved how they draw Gunter the most. Long, sparkling hair, and thick eyelashes, also his strong body, normally such charater that he is, would be draw slapdrash, but he was portrayed ideal, as it was him, who they wanted to achieve the best results at. Young boys had big eyes, older ones had smaller, everything was right at the spot. The sunset and lands, everything was draw carefully to look proffesional, also the monsters, ghosts and the power od Mazoku, everything was well imagined, it looked as there were many ideas putted together.
Sound. - The voices of characters were well fitted to their personalities, I really like that the same voice actor for Misaki in JunJou Romantica lent his voice to Yuri, his voice is really cheerful and ordinary, also Konrad voice was really delicate and melodical. To comment on beggining and ending songs, they were good. Tension music, were well menaged and I really felt like I was the mean character at that time.
Characters. - Okay, let's be honest. Who watched anime where all the characters were nice, and you missed them, when they were gone, put your hands up. None? Okay. This anime, serves ideal characters, there isnt anyone who you would dislike, well, you might not really like them at a start, but trust me, as Yuri will be giving them chance, you will also be giving them it, and I know one of those people will be Adalbert von Grantz, yes the old one with blond hair and annoying half-smile.
Yuri is one of characters which you will fall for. He is indeed a 'whimp' which Wolfram calls him, but he is also confident and he belives in what he's doing. He is one of those people you just adore, even If you find them annoying, you still somewhere deep feel sympathy for them. Yuri is funny, and kind, when he is sad, you are sad, when he is angry, you will also be. He is ideal role model and embodiment of someone everyone would love to be. Pure hearted, doesnt loss trust in his people. The only negative way he show himself is when Wolfram show him his feelings, and he is always uncomfortable, but it's just something that shounen ai, fan girl, would say.
I won't take long here, because all of you are probably bored, but all of the characters are really nice, even always pout-faced Wolfram. All of the characters have unusal hobbies or characteristic. Who would thought that Gwendal love cute animals?
Overall its an anime, which you would found friendly and warmhearted. It's a great lesson to tell you, that no matter where are you, with friends or with yourself, there are people who count on you. If you have lovely soul, people will give you all and treat you well. It's a story about love and friendship, how brother love, can turn maniac, how your best friend or guardian can betray you, for your own good. It's up to you to decide, if you can trust people who you love. And in those moments where there seems to have not be any solutions, there is always some way, to go through it. I watched whole series and ova in 3 days, I couldn't just stop for a second, its a type of anime, where you you need to go to toilet, but you cant, cause there is next episode. Even If you're not a fan of priesstess, and old villages, you will love this anime, and characters will become your friends, the same as Shin Makoku will be the place close to your heart.
