Kanata no Astra is the epitome of "fine". It does nothing particularly special or new in the storytelling, character design, writing, or worldbuilding departments. All of the characters are exact embodiments of tropes you've seen in other shows with the same predictable development direction. The plot is predictable for 95% of the show, including the twists once they give you the tiniest bit of foreshadowing. The animation is nice, the voice acting is nice - just about everything is nice or OK on a technical level.
