Somehow the two share the same vibe to it even if the core story is totally different. Both are wholesome stories that cover the topic of loneliness and family/friendship... and student-teacher relationship. Although Amaama to Inazuma doesn't focus on romance as the plot of the story, more like romance is only hinted at but never a main part of the story. Even so, the sprinkle of romance and the open ending still make me want to put it in the same category as Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi.

If you enjoy: Serious anime, Guns, Military, Philosophy, and long discussions about the meaning of life, these two movies are for you. Both deliver a philosophic drama with good action-packed scenes.

Freedom, privacy, being human. How much are you willing to trade in others to be happy, will you trade the very thing that makes you human in order to protect yourself or will you sacrifice everything you have including your life in order to protect your humanity. Both movies touch on the subject of freedom and the "old as world" existential question. Seeing two representations of the hypocrisy and the "plastic" facade that we as a society put on every day. The movies offer two different points of view and answers to the same problem. For any Project Itoh fan, I can say that both movies are two different sides of the same coin, marking the struggle of a man fighting cancer and his acceptance of the inevitable end.
