This anime is often compared to Toradora. In my opinion, wrongly. This anime and Toradora are actually only connected by the studio that is responsible for their production and the development of the romantic plot. This romantic theme, in both cases, began with friendship and gradually developed. And this makes me very happy because for me it is more natural when we see this relationship and its development. Of course, it can also be said that both anime share the same genre, but that is not enough when you consider that the school romance with drama elements is one of the most popular anime genres.
Unlike
...
Toradora, the story was less schematic here. Don't get me wrong because I love Toradora and it is good as it is. Toradora used schemats, but they did it perfectly and reliably. However, Golden Time in many ways escapes from the typical schemes of romantic school comedy with elements of drama. First, a very interesting thread was introduced. The plot in which the main character lost his memory as a result of an accident. After losing his memory, he has to build a new life. And above all, to answer the question of who he is. He says about himself that people see and want to see him as the old Tada Banri, who he is not because he has no memories of his life before the accident. It overwhelms him and he runs away and begins a new life. He starts them in Tokyo. I think the city is not accidental. It symbolizes in some way new life / new opportunities. The anime itself raises a lot of problems such as accepting your old self, knowing that your current self may die with the return of memory and despite this shows that it should to enjoy your "Golden Time" anyway, or it raises the topic of choice or better brutal truth or a good faith lie.
Characters are another advantage. They also run away from schemats. I like characters in Toradora, but they were schematic. Taiga Aisaka has actually become a symbol of the Tsundere archetype. Very often used in Japanese animations. In Golden Time, the characters could not be pigeonholed. They were exceptional. I usually put a lot of emphasis on whether I see character development in anime. In Golden Time, the development the characters and the relationship between the main two characters was well presented. The characters became more and more mature. So are the relationships between them, and it's not just about the romantic theme. The advantage of this romantic plot was also the fact that it did not end like a classic representative of the genre, i.e. a confession of feelings. Golden Time has gone a bit in the same way as Clannad. Maybe not that far, but after confessing the feelings of the two main charakters, it didn't end, and actually started. The anime showed the development of the relationship, the struggle with problems, the maturation of the relationship. The downside was that the characters and certain reactions were a exaggerated but this probably served two purposes. It emphasized certain character traits of the characters and also performed comedy functions.
The anime has 24 episodes that seems to much for this genre, but what a plus for this anime to make something happen is after something. There was never any feeling that either was a time clog.
What can you watch in this anime? Interesting story, many difficult topics, perhaps some tears and sadness.
Reading this review you may be wondering if there is not too much much Toradora:) Especially since my first verse beginning such that to anime, although the genre is to different from Toradora. The comparison of Toradora is purposeful for me, because Toradora is example, these classic school comedy with drama, Toradora using all the schemes for them, refined to perfection. Golden Time is running away from these schemes and it is precisely on the reconnaissance of Toradora to begin to depict. Thus, I warn you that when it comes to the fact that there has been a discouragement towards the Golden Time, which is more difficult. But then I can recommend if you are looking for an anime similar to Golden Time? Difficult question, but I have a few titles.
Seishun Buta Yarou- Simillar main plot that main character tries do not forget the chosen one of his heart. At the same time, something this anime is worth recommending due to its unique atmosphere and very high naturalness
Clannad - also escapes from schemats and also touches the heart but much deeper.
Pet Girl of Sakurasou - also original characters and a strong focus on their personalities.

To love ru:
This is a review of all seasons.
This anime is criticized by many. Many accuse him of being almost Hentai and having no action.
It’s an Echci anime, so according to the definition of the genre, there must be nude scenes and all that that genre entails, but they appear mainly for comedy purposes. There are many scenes, such as the phone scene between Rito and Kotegawa, that bring a smile to your face. These Echci situations themselves are quite innocent, so it is abusive to compare this anime to Hentai.
The story definitely exists. Although it’s not the strong side of this
...
anime, it shouldn’t be. The story fulfils useful functions. It’s used to bring characters together, build relationships. When someone has an interesting and complicated act bitch it can disappoint. That’s not anime for him.
But who is this anime for? Certainly for someone who is looking for something simple, with a sense of humor and a lot of positive energy. I don’t know if I can call it right, but there is such a positive energy flowing from this anime, which is best summed up by Yami’s words to Mei: “It’s sainan here you don’t have to wonder if you’re a weapon or a human being and if you belong here, this city will accept you.” What makes this series different from other Echci harem? Especially heroes who are well written. I don’t like the Echci-Harem series and don’t grab them because they are usually very flat. The hero is inconspicuous, and all his equally inconspicuous friends fall in love with him and behave in a rather embarrassing manner. This anime is different. The hero himself is different from a typical Echi hero, and why a person is in love with him is well explained and usually based on some of his personality traits. I missed the manga arc who insisted on finding a plant to save Celina from a fatal disease. He explains Momo’s feelings for Rito that were not explained in the anime. A little unfortunately there are no male characters outside the main character and it is a harem, but the female characters are at least very well written and are original. In this anime, the development of the characters is well represented. The characters are not only curious and original, but they are constantly changing, whether due to certain events or the influence of other characters. At least you can see the gradual change of the main character that has taken place in him under the influence of Lala. Lala herself changed over the course of the show and her love for the main character matured. And you could name many other characters, like Momo, Yami and Mea, who evolved during the show. As I said, the relationships between the characters are also very well done. Not just between the main character and his harem, but between everyone. I liked the arc of friendship between Mei and Nana.
In summary, this is a light anime with comedy elements, but due to the relationship between the characters it is deeper than the regular Echci series. This is a slice of live with Echci elements. So if you like school slice of live and you don’t mind and you’re looking for something light and funny, but not stupid, I recommend you. I estimate the whole show at 8/10. This is how it looks in the respective seasons:
1.To love ru-7/10
2.Motto to love ru-7,5/10
3.To love ru darkness(both seasons)- 9/10

This is a review of both seasons, which I will consider as a unit.
The unemployed Otaku dies in the real world and moves to the world of the Isekai, where he develops his powers and is at the center of the most important events. It starts out very schematically. If you also do not like schematization and shallow story and shallow characters, then do not be deterred by its description, because it is anime much deeper than normal isekai.
A very important element is the representation of the development of the main character. He doesn’t suddenly turn from a typical loser of life to a hero.
...
It’s a process. The new world is a new opportunity for him, but it’s not easy. The hero must overcome his fear or learn to deal with people.
The relationships between the characters were shown very well. Both between the hero and his parents and between the three most important women who appear in his life. That’s another Roxy, Sylphiette and Eris. Each of them has the right role. Roxy is the teacher who encouraged Rudeus. He went out and wanted to grow. Sylphiette was a childhood friend to him. Something that he didn’t have in his previous life and that drove him to develop and work, which the main character wanted for himself, Sylphiette and her relationship. And then there’s Eris. To them Rudeus was a teacher, but above all he was the person in charge.
It was also very important to me that the characters were real. They are very real and everyone has their weaknesses, fears and problems. Examples are the main character as well as characters such as Eris, Paul or Ruijerd. This makes this anime sincere and makes it easy to like and bond with characters.
The characters and their relationships are the strong side of this anime. Not the only one.
Another strength is the world presented, which is colorful and interesting. We want to explore this world, and we get to know it. These first 2 seasons were seasons in my opinion and fulfilled their role perfectly. Ideally, they first introduced us slowly to the most important heroes and relationships between them and then to the different parts of the world. The potential of this world may have been corrupted by the haste of the makers. Fortunately, this was not the case and we were beginning to get acquainted with the world.
In terms of the theme it is still difficult to say anything, because the makers focused initially more on portraying the world and familiarizing the audience with the characters that IMO was most important at the beginning of the project. Not yet known to the end what the series will be, but the thread also promises to be interesting, and it would be good to expand this thread, the task will be before the next parts. So far, it’s okay.
It’s also hard not to pay attention to the graphics, because the anime was very beautifully drawn. This is an animation you should expect from the latest productions with the latest technology. Equally well, battles were presented, which are very dynamic.
Music is another advantage of anime. From those unusual narrative openings to music during the anime. All this fits perfectly with this anime.
Summing up for now, the developers have started the series as well as they could. Anime has no weak elements. Do you like dialogues? You’re going to like it. Would you rather watch fights? For you, too. Are you watching an interesting story? You’ll find one here. But that’s just the beginning. We’ll see what the next parts show, but the show has great potential.

Some describe elfen lied as horror or thriller. For me, however, Elfen lied is a drama. Although quite unusual for this genre, it is still a drama because the main theme here is a man and his inner feelings and conflicts, and the anime itself is much more than shocking or scary scenes that appear, but are not an end in themselves and when they do appear, they have a specific purpose.
The main message of Elfen Lied is that no one is really born evil and that we create evil ourselves. It is not that the diclonius were evil from birth, but rather that the
...
people, through the hatred and fear directed at them, made them who they are. On the other hand, the anime also shows it so that it is not too easy to judge if we don't get to know someone too well. At first glance, characters such as Lucy or Bando seemed to be pure evil and some brutal scenes with their participation even more intensified the effect and aroused aversion to these characters, but with time, when we get to know their story or get to know their personality more, it changes over time our approach to these characters. This does not mean that you should justify their wrong actions, but that you do not pass premature judgments.
The strongest point of this anime is therefore the well-written story and the message because this anime is for something and was not created as another antenna clog that fits into a pattern. The music, which was quite original, was also very well chosen. Especially the opening. I rate the animation worse, and there was too much bloodshed, but in some respects it was also necessary because this is what the authors wanted to arouse strong emotions about the anime and its main character at the beginning. As for the characters, they were written ok, but somehow they weren't very interesting either. I rate anime at 8/10
