You know initially I was "It's an anime about manga, I don't think it'll be that interesting" despite all the recommendations about it. I gave it a try last month because I was winding down on anime I wanted to watch at the time, so I figured "hey why not?"

My god, I ended up in a marathon of the show (despite starting it at 1AM in the morning). It's got plenty of character development, a good plot and like RaithMoracus pointed out, really good pacing for an anime about manga. If you like fast-paced action and not a lot of dialogue then I wouldn't recommend ... it, otherwise if you can stand it then it's a very good watch.

Yes. It's not an incredibly deep show or anything, but it's still a solid show. I would put it along the lines of other competition/working/drama shows like Beck and Chihayafuru (although those two are admittedly better), but for manga.

You will come out of it gaining an insight into the manga industry and appreciating what it takes to produce manga and anime a lot more. You also might pick up a habit of talking with one eye closed.

1. Yorknew City Arc - On my top 5 arcs of all time.
2. Chimera Ant Arc - Also one of the best arcs ever. But people seem to have preferences for it.
3. Nen - The best battle system in shonen, no contest.
4.Amazing villains/side characters - Hisoka, Chrollo, Meruem…
5. Substantial amount of character development for the main cast and mostly all
significant characters in each arc. Beautifully written…

One thing I will say, I was hooked since episode 1, but it seems to be slow paced for some people, especially during the first few episodes where it sets the pace, and in the beginning of some arcs. ... So just be patient.

Honestly it was hard to just come up with 5 reasons. The show is just a masterpiece. I feel like if it weren’t for the hiatus’s it would probably be considered the best shonen of all time. If only there was more content.. :(
