- Both animes have a fantasy scenario portraying, mainly, a war between two great factions/empires. - Both MC are clearly great commanders - The war development is mainly based on the strategy and tactics and is often compared to chess/shogi (side note: both MCs excel on chess) - Although the main combat is focused on large-scale combat, there are some good duels and small-scale fights - There is a lot of polictics involved in the war and the MC seems to be related to the nobility - Both worlds are kinda messed up, with the main empire focusing on war and having great economic, political and social issues. Both animes have great characters with an actual personality, every character has its own development, both psychologically and on skills and *quasi-spoiler ahead* both MCs seem to be fated to fix the world, doing it not necessarily by just winning wars.

Similar plot: God is disappearing for some reason and powers are given to some humans, and a new god will be chosen among them. The main characters are similar and it's likely that an alliance between the main couple is formed. Also, the god candidates in both stories seem to have lots of personal problems (it's insinuated that all god candidates in Platinum End are suicidals and most of the god candidates in mirai nikki had a sad/terrorizing/problematic past.) Differences are: In Mirai Nikki, the power of each candidate is completely unique, while in platinum end the only difference is how many accessories the candidate has, depending on the class of his angel. Also, it seems killing all the other candidates is not the only way to become a god in Platinum End, even if he obviously needs to stay alive, while Mirai Nikki was a "must-kill-everyone-else".

Although the storyline isn't similar at all, both share some similarities: The main male character seems to be normal at first, then he is presented to a completely different world. Both share a main heroine that had her name given by the main hero, getting in love with him because he is the first to behave like that. Also, although SnS is way less harem-directed and less ecchi, both have lots of girls/women around the main hero. Both main heroines are jealous about the main hero, but Tohka takes it way better :P (due to the storyline, probably)
