Urban environments and an emphasis on the color of clothing worn by their characters is what these two have in common. In Life no Color, those at the bottom of society wear red clothing to symbolize their inferior status, while those above them wear blue. Durarara!! deals with "color gangs," who show their alliance by wearing specifically colored clothing.

Anima and SnK both capture a certain rawness and horror that the nude human body can hold. SnK does so with its titans, giant, naked monsters that resemble humans. Anima evokes this feeling with frenzied movement and complex dance poses from its nude main character.

Inaka Isha and Muybridge no Ito both rely on sketchy, distorted animation and muted colors to tell their surreal stories. Muybridge no Ito can be difficult to follow, with many non-plot segments inserted throughout the movie. Once understood, however, its storyline is simple. Inaka Isha is no less confusing, but is presented in a more traditional fashion. Horses also play a large roll in both.
