Tooka, Sousuke

Sousuke Tooka, also known as Goriemon or Tokatada, is a former salaryman who quit his job to dedicate himself to being a manga artist. In 2017 and already in his 40s, he started drawing his first series, Ousama Ranking, published on the Japanese website Manga Hack which was very well received by the public and became a worldwide success.

His biggest inspiration for Prince Bojji comes from RPG games where the protagonists don't speak, which creates a more immersive experience for players. He also has a slight hearing problem, but this has little to do with Bojji's creation.

At first he tried to be a children's book illustrator, but after winning a grand prize and even a publication in an illustration contest, he ended up giving up on the idea and opted to create webcomics.

During his childhood, he grew up with his parents banning manga and anime as they were extremely conservative, which is why he keeps his career as a manga artist a secret from them. Being single and living only with his cats, Sousuke said he led an easygoing but monotonous and boring life. His dream has always been to be a manga artist.

Sousuke cited Kinnikuman and Dragon Ball as his favorite works. His most influential manga artist is Akira Toriyama. He also likes "One Piece", Fullmetal Alchemist and GeGeGe no Kitarou. Sousuke Tooka also loves fairy tales with happy endings, and his favorite movie is The NeverEnding Story.
