At this point, we are almost at the edge of what manga can be. And yet, Baby Boom holds the etymology as rarely: it is here about a moving image, colored magma initially shapeless, which requires squinting the eyes in order to see something there. A visual gibberish, in appearance, at first, but which gradually clears up to reveal sketches of an acid funny, cute without being imperatively kawai. From what at first glance looks like a challenge, an exercise in style (drawing childish sequences without dialogue, with two colored markers giving the whole rainbow parade air), we finally derive direct pleasure.
