Story 8/10
This series is exactly what you'd expect it to be. That said, the story is very "anime." With that in mind I cant say the series stands out much so far. Everything that you'd expect to be in a fantasy anime, you'll find in the RWBY manga. Evil fantastical creatures, yep. Giant Mechs, yep. Cute super powered High school girls, yep. That said, despite the series being predictable it works very well.
Art 10/10
Now what this series lacks in story, it makes up in its amazing art. The series is being illustrated by DOGS illustrator Shirow Miwa. The art is extremely detailed and

the story mainly recovers the trailers with added detail, the site I read the manga at actually has 15 chapters, and chapters 10-15 are the only chapters that add to the story. with that said I very much enjoyed the added detail into the trailer recap, as well as the extra story the manga add, while I may be bias since I'm quiet a RWBY fan I'm giving the story 8 (I'd also suggest reading the chapter MAL doesn't list). the art was pretty good and I enjoyed seeing characters I had only seen as 3D models in a 2D Anime/Manga art style so

Upon entering my local bookstore for the third time, I peered through every shelf in the manga section in search for a interesting light novel to satisfy myself before Nekomonogatari White comes out, and for another volume of Tokyo Ghoul Re.
After a couple of minutes of looking from shelf to another shelf, I finally stumbled upon the RWBY manga, which I thought after reading the first two chapters last time online that it would never be published through one of the U.S. retail stores. Since I liked the ONA series, I grabbed one copy of the manga, bought it along with Juuni Taisen, and went ... Jan 23, 2017
In my opinion this is the worst manga currently serialized by Jump. Perhaps if you watched the original anime, you might enjoy this, but if you've never seen it, don't bother.
For me the worst part is the art. There are rarely any backgrounds or basic details like shading. The whole thing is a jarring white and black, and its almost impossible to tell what in the world is going on. For a series that relies heavily on the art to convey whats going on (dialog and exposition is minimal), clear art is a must. I mean, even ONE draws better than this. The story ... |
