Coming elements of fantasy, slice of life, and a bit of romance, both series adapts a well-rounded story about supernatural beings. The main premise may not seem similar but there's a good amount of relationship building with familiarity. In fact, the main characters' personalities are similar - strong, independent, and caring towards their friends. Their role in the story is expanded as they face difficult obstacles as well as their own personal struggles. There's also a bit of romance development that becomes evident as well. Anyone interested in a lighthearted fantasy story should consider giving these two series a shot. 

Taking place in a Meiji era, both Donten ni Warau and Otome Youkai Zakuro focuses on a fantasy story with creative storyteling. There is military ethnics that is focused with both series' plot that includes the main characters' roles. The main male protagonist also builds unique connections with others (in Otome Youkai Zakuro, it is with a non-human character). We also learn much about the world the characters are coming from including various background stories. Both series are also known for some bits of romance subplot as their story progresses. 

Noragami and Otome Youkai Zakuro are similar in a few ways. Both series involves forces of supernatural including spirits and youkai. The main male protagonist have clever personalities and develops a peculiar relationship with the main female character. There is a strong degree of characterization that reveals much about the characters' backgrounds and past while connecting their roles in the present story. Both series adapts romance at a subtle pace as well that expands over the course of the story.
