Before you decide on reading this manga, just be aware of some triggers that are present within the story:

1. There is a r*pe scene (the chapter ends before the reader can see anything but, I feel it is important to know).
2. In almost all the chapters, one can clearly see acts of gro*ming and ped*philia.
3. It is very gory from the beginning.
At the end of the day, it is a horror manga, however, still, take this into consideration before going into it!

Surprised this manga doesn't have more reviews.

Read this manga if you fall under one of these categories-

1. You like to explore weird stuff

2. If you like ero guro.

There is nothing else here, absolutely nothing. It is a weird, revolting, and horrifying story that hooks you in till the end. It left me traumatized, but man do I want to read more of this mangaka. Personally, I like exploring the works of controversial figures, so I'll definitely check out his other work.

Amid the chaos of Maruo Suehiro's violent, traumatic & hypersexual tale lies a tragic & heartwrenching story, a complex and profound meaning .

Recently I checked the manga because I am fond of the author's art, purely for the aesthetic. Suehiro Maruo's surreal artistic skills and bizarre presentation never fail to amaze me. Shoujo tsubaki, similar to his other works, has it all; the aesthetically pleasing art, the gruesome story &, of course, the muddling and unsettling atmosphere.

The pillar of Suehiro Maruo's storytelling lies substantially in his visual portrayal. The distinctive nature of his craftsmanship is primarily surreal & absurd artistry. Understanding the importance of the ...

If you are new to the work of Suehiro Maruo, boy you have a big storm coming. 'Shoujo Tsubaki' is his most popular work, garnering attention as being known to many people as "The most disturbing anime/manga of all time." In my opinion, 'Brother's Conflict' and 'Papa to Kiss in the Dark' are FAR more disturbing than this, but I digress.

To be quite honest, this story is actually more streamline and almost makes sense is comparison to his other work. That being said, there is almost no actual storyline to follow and does not make too much sense at ...

There is no genre of manga that is more avant-garde than the ero guro movement. Ero Guro nansensu is a movement famed for depicting extreme gorey horror with themes of sexual violence. No ero guro manga is more famous than Shoujo Tsubaki.

The story revolves around an innocent 12-year-old orphan named Midori, who is tricked into becoming a slave for a carnival freak show. She is regularly assaulted and abused by the performers of the freak show acts. After the arrival of a magician that treats her kindly and sweeps her off her feet, he becomes a beacon to the impressionable and naive young girl. This ...

I would say this is a 7/10 and no its not that i think this is funny or bullshit like that i think it is a 7/10 because of what mangaka suehiro maruo is trying to say he isn't trying to tell a story of a young girl who is in the circus he is telling the story of our society and how bad it is. he wants people to see that society is not just a fun place to be there is always bad behind it when i first watched this i thought "what sick bastard wrote this!!" then when i watch it ...

Shoujo Tsubaki ~ The Camelia Girl

In my opinion, the mass array of people that have recently learned of this manga through the most popular social media app, are greately misunderstanding Shoujo Tsubaki, Suehiro Maruo, and ero-guro as a genre in total. I believe this story works best and most beautifully when seen for what it is, and not as a subject that supposedly holds a deeper, more sinister meaning.

Shoujo Tsubaki is a perfect example of a tragicomedy - or a black comedy. The characters, part of a freakshow, naturally are witty, absurd, queer, sadomasochistic, and utterly strange. The story centers around Midori, a sweet ...

If you love disturbing imagery, you will probably enjoy looking at the art this manga has to offer. It's a 15 minute read, and at the end you'll find yourself enjoying visions of all of the better uses of your time, such as pulling out your fingernails or swallowing live eels.

The story is shockingly mean-spirited and somehow even more shallow. The story isn't exactly 'told', rather a series of events take place until it ends. It is an ero horror series, though the ero aspects of the horror revolve around sexual abuse of child characters, or orgy scenes that bear no story relevance. The horror ...

I don't understand what message this manga wants to convey, unhappiness? I guess. Scary harsh reality of an ancient society? Maybe. To be honest, the art of this manga is pretty cool and classic, but I'm not a fan of the abstract genre, and some of the reading pages are quite disturbing.
The part where the main character girl has to go through harassment and abuse makes it the hardest for me to watch, but overshadowing the story is a longing for pitiful fates, it's confusingly abstracted, That makes me even more frustrated.
In short, I don't like it very much, but I also don't fully ...

Sad to see the movie is not here, besides that the manga was ok. I read this because one of my friends said that it's the most traumatizing manga's. Oh boy let me tell you it was. After reading I was left traumatized and sad. The ending left me confused but when I read more into it made me more sad to find out what this girl has gone through and the hidden meaning behind the ending. Very rough to even think about it, the author must have an imaginary and eerie mind. I don't really know if this is true someone told me on ...

If you're a newbie to horror manga, this is a lot as there are a ton of triggers and it's intense. However, if you're a seasoned horror fan, then Shoujo Tsubaki doesn't shock at all. The horrific scenes are pretty tamed or standard for horror manga, but the biggest issue I have is the flow of the story. It's incredibly disjointed and very rushed. You have the "main plot" of Midori finding love (?) in her messed up life, and then the story abruptly ends. There are many surreal elements, so sometimes you don't know what is happening or if you're just reading a dream ...
