These two manga here both involves dealing with the military and the use of mecha in combat. Both series features a prominent main characters who gets involved with the military. From there, he befriends other people including a main female protagonist whom later falls in love with them. Both series has violence, some fan-service, action, drama, and comedy.  

Kite and Souske Sagara are both in unknown territory which they need to adapt to if they are going to survive the new world they have entered. With help from their friends they learn more about thier environments and make new friends along they way. They both have little faith in thier ablities at times of crisis, but thier friends are there to lift their spirts and make them feel like they can take on the world.
