The Cross to my Trigger, I'm talking about Chrono. The Night to my Zero, I'm talking about Fate. The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy is one of the most disliked/hated parts about the FF Franchise (and obviously not as beloved as the other parts of the franchise, hence its comparisons with CT／CC and F/SN／F/Z), along with the II, III and also VII, due to its 'overated' status. Lord only knows how much I despise this word. But there's no other word to be used here instead of this one, and I must say that XIII is overrated as hell.
Claire Suerron. Sorry, I mean Lightning, is the
main character of this saga. And yes she's a stronk femael lead and has an OK design, I must admit it, but those are the only good things to point out about her. She's like Cloud Strife, which is, in case you haven't noticed, the charact they (SE) based her around. And pretty much like him, it takes some time to take a liking on her. But Lightning, Caius, the antagonist and Noel (which only appears in the next novels) are the only likeable characters in this saga, and maybe also Serrah, if you're a fan of DiDs, of course.
This novel is a prequel to the main series and it gives more information about the series lore and worldbuilding. It provides us a deeper insight to the character drama, which was not that great, I must say. And last but not least, it's storytelling is just as linear as the game's. Read it if you are a fan of the series. But if you're not don't waste your time with it, it's not worth it.
P.S. Oh how I wished to see Snow being punched again in this prequel, but that's just me (right?)
Story - 4/10 (Meh/Boring)
Art - 9/10 (It's FF what'd you expect?)
Character - 6/10 (Lightning is kind of good)
Enjoyment - 6/10 (Fun to read)
Overall - 6/10 (Disappointing but not bad)
