Manga that make you go, "What the fuck am I even reading anymore." Usually manga that go batshit insane approaching the end of the story. Kongo Bancho here because of the shark, so fucking peak. Also any Go Nagai manga ever.

No matter if you're a regular yuri reader or not, maybe you'd like to try somewhat more niche titles which don't fit in the "yuri is the purest form of love" stereotype that was created by the public? I'm not saying all of those are unsung masterpieces, but I think at least few are worth checking out, depending on your preferences.

A while back, a Twitter user going by @hicuckomori made a thread of niche, unique, and generally darker themed yuri/girl love manga, and this is all the series they recommended under that thread, with a few exceptions, those being:

At least one main female character is physically strong, preferably the protagonist.

Physical strength applies both to hand-to-hand combat and proficiency in wielding weaponry (marksmanship, swordsmanship, archery etc.) as well as ability and talent in a physical sport.

No magical/supernatural power allowed unless it enhances physical strength.
