Both are psychological manga employing morbid themes such as murder, corruption, and dark, traumatic pasts. The main character in each becomes the caretaker of a homeless kid whom he learns the significance of life from. While not really classified as BL, there are a few scenes that could come off as BL-ish but nothing too heavy and intolerable to the genre’s non-fans. 

I'm not really sure why I find these familiar... There's just something about the two series. Maybe it's the art? Or the general atmosphere?
