Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (60/98 chp)
When I first started reading this manga, I was very satisfied. I found it very amusing and I really loved the art. Although, as time passed, I noticed that the style had changed. The change in the style was only slight for it was still very appealing and cute. The story was still interesting and the romance was still entertaining. When the style changed for a second time, I could not help but be baffled as to why they would do such a thing. Not only had the art become atrocious but the story line had become stale. Even the characters had become different, almost ...

I read it after watching the anime. But ended up being so disappointed to the point that I had to dropped it and I couldn't even get my self to read it.

Story: The main plot sounds interesting but it ended up just like almost every normal Shoujo manga. It was so cliched and too cheesy. I don't know which direction the story wanted to go. It became so cliched and argh annoying.

Art: The art is okay, the characters all look good but the art is somewhat messy.

Characters: Now the main character Misaki is someone who the mangaka wanted to show as someone strong and ...

I have a lot to say about Maid sama and I'll start with the good points. Misaki is a likable character because she's hard-working and gets a decent amount of development. The series is an easy read, you're not reading shoujo manga for the deep stories. You read it for the characters and relationships. Most characters are likable, except for a few that are only there as a running gag.
The beginning has a nice pacing, then it gets really repetitive in the middle and picks up a bit again in the end. Eighteen volumes is too long for the series, it could have been ...

Kaichou wa maid sama! is a shoujo manga with a simple and typical story of a poor tsundere character falling in love with a rich perfect handsome guy. But what makes it a bit not good is because of some parts of the story that concluded in a disappointing way or got forgotten or shoved in later.

The manga has a lot of characters but some has a very little character growth: for example is Takumi Usui. He is just there for Misaki. There are also characters that was introduced and was also forgotten later. What is their purpose other than being an obstacle. The art of ...

"Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!" does not offer much new to fans of shojo romance, but its playful take on common tropes with some nods to outside genres. The basic premise is familiar: two seemingly opposite types (a somewhat unpopular but lowkey cute and talented girl and an seemingly impossibly talented and beautiful boy) share a chance encounter and grow close due to their mutual interest or activities. I would highly recommend this manga to anyone with serious interest in the genre. That said, I had some reservations along the way which tempered my enjoyment of it, and prevented me from loving it as much as I ...
