This is technichally meant to be an epilogue for Crows, but its actually more or less a prequel to Worst (most notable Crows characters don't even appear in this gaiden) This sidestory is more or less meant to just be establishing some characters who become notable later on in the sequel series, but I found it a very enjoyable read even on its own.
Story: 8. Not really anything exceptional or complicated, its basically the delinquent warfare you'll have come to expect if you read Crows or Worst. But as always, the stories are gritty and entertaining, and the sheer machismo of it can be addictive.
...
So while its more or less the same thing as the other 60 volumes of the series, it if aint broke, why fix it?
Art: 9. Really good stuff here.Takahashi gradually improved over his whole run with Crows, and here you can see some of his best stuff so far. He loves two page spreads, detailed and stylish clothing, and hard hitting fight scenes, and all of that is on display here for him to show a master of his craft at work.
Character: 8. Again, its delinquents. They smoke, wear sunglasses, and fight each other in abandoned warehouses and on highschool rooftops. They've all got their own little quirks that make them likable, and they can display surprising depth when push comes to shove. No one quite as memorable as the main characters of Crows, but Zetton and Guriki are great, so theres that.
Enjoyment: Even if this "sidestory" is basically just more of the same, I still found it a great self contained delinquent story, and is a nice way to get into "Worst" without having to first read Crows.
