Both of these series focus on rather seedy jobs that bring trouble to our gansgster/yankee MCs, both manga are full of action, drama and just all around cool fights. Though Shinjuku Swan is far more mature

If you love Onizuka Sensei, you'll love Shiratori...they're like brothers. Both series explore some of the darker sides of society and have great themes, but Shinjuku Swan goes very dark, but can bounce back to the lighter tones. Unlike GTO here there are real villains/antagonists...and they are very twisted in their own ways

A suffocating, realistic world which snuffs out the dreams and convictions of those who exist within. How does one cope with an unfair and cruel existence, how does one hold onto their convictions and live true to themselves, how does one find peace of mind amidst the chaos? Well, these manga have some inspiring answers for those interested.

Both are stories about two regular below middle-class people who accidentally get sucked into the world of crime. One is about gangs and the other about prostitution. The protagonists are kind and friendly people who have to live in a cold hearted world.
