Refreshing for an isekai.
The mc is quite likeable. He switches from a corpo-slave and a bookworm into a carefree and lazy personality, landing him somewhere in the middle. His efforts to juggle through his academic life while looking for his freedom and keeping his (comedic) pride, keep the story fresh.
Although it has many common isekai tropes, the story still feels refreshing as the protagonist is aware of them. He has his own thoughts about these tropes and either tries to trigger them or stays away from them, either making it more adventurous or adding more comedic flair. He is not suddenly the strongest SSS-Ranker, and
...
he has plenty of weaknesses that he tries to overcome.
The other characters shine as well. They scramble to catch up, gossip wildly, and misinterpret the mc’s actions as wild schemes and even acts of rebellion. Magic training and noble politics - the fantasy elements - are kept in balance by this chaos.
The pacing is brisk. The story goes through many interesting events with little downtime. The world-building is solid without overwhelming details. There are some drags in the first volume that go off on a tangent explaining the world-building stuff. But it all pays off later on, so not a bad deal.
Overall, it's wild and witty. Read it for the action, the isekai, the comedy, and the social dynamics.
