The novel's story is told from the point of view of an unnamed protagonist who happens to find a diary in a hospital one day. The diary belongs to his classmate, a girl named Sakura Yamauchi, who is revealed to be suffering from a terminal illness in her pancreas, and who only has a few months left to live. Sakura explains that the protagonist is the only person apart from her family that knows about her condition. The protagonist promises to keep Sakura's secret. Despite their completely opposite personalities, the protagonist decides to be together with Sakura during her last few months.

"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live." - Norman Cousins

Adapted from the novel of the same name, this manga is simply amazing in so many ways. Just by reading the synopsis, you can feel a huge load of emotions welling up right away. The novel has already touched the hearts of thousands of people, winning numerous awards. I bet it will do the same to you as well.

I've read the novel AND the manga. One thing I can tell you is that I was a bit disappointed by the manga, as some important read more

A tragic story about a young, energetic high school girl diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that is terminal enjoying her last days with your average, gloomy high school boy who subsequently never decided to socialize with his peers until he met Sakura. it's not only tragic, but absolutely romantic with a ointment of comedy.

This manga has taught me a lot about self improvement! The courage touch society again! And most importantly, to love...!

It's all about living your very last days to the fullest with your love interest.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

This is boring and absolutely uninspired.

I don't understand why read more

3.5/10. I don't say this lightly--this work is SUPREMELY overrated.

At the time of writing this, there is a severe lack of criticism for this work, and if you want the summary of my review, this is it:

- it is derivative of every other teen disease romance ever
- the story is mawkish
- rarely does it feel inspired
- characters are certainly uninspired
- despite this, it has a consistent vision

This is more of a review for the book than the manga. The manga took out details, but the structure is the same, which is why I can apply the same review.

I'm pushed to write this review because the read more

"We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; in feelings, not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart throbs. He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best." - Aristotle.

A manga adaptation of a novel of the same name, Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai is a story that examines the fragile but purposeful nature of human life through recounting the unlikely relationship between a dying girl and a hollow boy. Ironically with the deterioriation of one person's health another was brought to life from the shell of a human he once was. Whether the encounter of read more
