This is the shit I want to read.
Otome done right to a certain extent. It is cliché, it is tropey, it is essentially a rehash like all of its competitors out there. But it is a good rehash.
This is what happens when subtle elements are done right. The tried old take on the otome genre is the only thing it is. Just scraping out the romance tag with the comedy one which was GOOD to read. It doesn't try to do anything different from the things done by its predecessors, just enhancing on their work. There are no useless dramas, or romantic tug-of-wars of any
...
sort. Just a man trying to save his most loved character of the game in which he has now transported in as the villainess, without romance as already mentioned.
While it is not a comedy which makes you fall down from your bed laughing while holding your stomach. It is not and does not tries to be one either. It has some good mild humour, some comedic relief moments, which I would say, leverages the overall quality and feel of the manga, not by a significant margin, but it sure does.
Characters, as I would say, are pretty good even if they are no different from any other set of characters from an otome manga. Maybe the premise of the manga helps them being good because comedy doesn't need some deep character with out of the world character building.
Art is also good, even if, same as characters, similar to the other manga of this theme. Rather than going off the tracks and doing something different, it tries to introduce improve in the things done by similar mangas.
But it is not like that it doesn't have its own sets of problems. Pacing can be bit rough at times, an instance of it is when the fake saint is in the bath then in the next page she is fighting demons while the only thing to connect those two events was that she was shown flying. Dialogues can be bit confusing at times too, and things like the lore of the now altered game are not properly explained. You have to give the dialogues multiple reads sometimes to understand it properly. There are flaws but they can be easily smoothened out.
