Synopsis

This is a world whose peace was destroyed by the Shadow Lord, Secneum. Niro is a half-elf, half-human boy who lost his parents as a baby and was adopted by a slave couple. In this world, slaves are not treated as humans. Since Niro's adoptive parents are slaves, they are mistreated and eventually lose their lives. Now Niro is alone once more, and must shoulder the burdens of his family and do whatever is takes to protect his two younger siblings. If Niro wants to escape this fate, there is only one thing he can do. He must graduate from the academy, "Excanum" just like the current Emperor, Muren who was once a slave!

I think this really solidifies my horrible taste, but screw you, because Slave B rocks!

I think there are way too few manwhas that discuss the topics like self-control and mastering oneself. Slave B makes a realistic representation of it, with the utmost humane character development, where the character doesn't just "solve" his problem, no! It lives on! Even long after he got freed as a slave, he still had that part in him which could not let go of the grudges that he had as a slave and then he had to overcome them. I would argue that this is genuinely the worst manhwa ever written, because unlike other trash manhwa, this actually starts out good and sets your expectations high. I am extremely curious as too what kind of mental breakdown or psychosis the author had while writing this, because it transitions from a gritty story about a person overcoming challenges, to nonsensical insanity, with character's personalities changing spontaneously, and with major plot points and random shifts in tone and relationships being shoved into 1-2 chapter long sequences. Trash, Abysmal, Worst manga I have ever read.
It was decent for the first 25 chapters, then it went downhill. HARD. All the hard work of the MC went down the drain, tortured,beaten, cheated, enslaved, mocked and always deprived of any longlasting happiness. His father got poisoned, his mother raped and brutally murdered, his sisters almost raped and sold to a pedophile and then to the one who raped and killed his mother.
