Haibara's Teenage New Game, as the name sounds, It is a story about a college student, Haibara Natsuki, who is full of regrets because he wasted his entire youth. He travels back in time by some coincidence and vows to never repeat the same mistake again, instead decides to live his youth to the fullest.
The author, Kazuki Amamiya, I was marvelled by this theme of his. This theme so ingenious, where although the reincarnate stuff is old, but to reincarnate in the high school days, now this was something entirely new and refreshing. I had high hopes for the LN and it did lived up
...
to my expectations throughout the 3 volumes, but in vol 4, sigh.
I was fascinated by the meticulous writing of author, he is simply a genius, he perfectly executed the characters personality by creating the dialouges which really felt like coming from them instead of jumbled up for the sake of deadline. This was rare.
The first volume, though slow, was a good start where the MC, completety reforms himself, trains his butt off, and becomes so handsome. He was a gloomy guy in college and fat, so in contrast to this, he works hard to change his entire appearance. Which worked marvelously. He makes friends, going out and stuff, basically he do all the stuff which he regretted in his college life and enjoys his high school days to the fullest by making his grey-coloured life to rainbow-coloured.
I had no complains from the 3 volumes, infact I praised it and was hyped that it was gonna get even good in the later volumes. Or to be specific, in Vol 4.
But when I binge-read vol 4 yesterday, what can I say. I have no words literally. I was extremely disappointed, It was such a huge shock to me. Because the author completely deviated from the original setting he was previously building in the past 3 volumes. Destroyed in vol 4. It was a joke, lol, or so I would've like to think. He destroyed the characters personalites, he completely changed the MC personality, all for the so-called going back and following the same old route, cliche route, where MC pics always the long-haired girl and the short-haired girl always loss. He exactly did this, and makes excuse that he was making the decision as the MC, Haibara. Lol, I mean you ARE the author.
The reason I was excited because up untill the 3 volumes, the author had built the story in a sense that it will create a miracle, and will not go down the route of Oregairu or Nisekoi. And he deceived us all, by cheaply copying the same storyline, I wasted my entire time.
I mean, I guess no author will take the route where atleast MC picks the short-haired girl, or atleast doesn't pick either of them. This way we won't get hurt, so do the characters, But no, all these authors will follow in the same footsteps and cheaply follow them instead of creating something new which will shook the world. Brainless idiots.
It is what it is.
