No longer a heroine finally ended, putting meaning into the title, being, Lisa is a anti-hero. People go along with protagonists for three main reasons: likeable, relatable or interest. After the cute first few chapters, Lisa and the other characters do really interesting things whilst accomplishing what story wants: Idols and actors have to deal with backstabbing, unreasonable standards, lost of passion and doing anything to become famous. The story didn’t repair these problems keeping realism to the actual entertainment business, and that’s what makes the ending so infilling and sad. Dowon never got to make into the industry on his own since he’s too ... delicate, Zeya stayed since he had a pretty face and knew not to cause trouble, Jojo couldn’t because he’s scandalous, Lisa and Hagyeong could because they’re blunt and understand how everything works. Lisa never got the things she wanted in the beginning. Now, she’s still in the industry arguable happier than she was before, but that still doesn’t change the unreasonable standards she has to follow.
The story was compelling at the beginning, but Lisa’s basically on the verge of being a Mary Sue if the author didn’t punish her so much. If I could experience it again, I would, though the story makes me sick to my stomach. It has a special place in my heart as my first psychological manhwa and got me threw grieving my father’s death, that’s why I have such a bias for it. As a story, I don’t know if I’d recommend it or not to others, due to have sick it is. The characters are dumb most of the time, it’s really easy to hate them, but also really easy to empathize with why they act that way. If you liked Oshi no Ko or any hurt comfort stories, give this a read.
