This series dropped the ball for me. It started out as an enjoyable romantic relationship between a witch and a dragon but turned into the dragon manipulating the witch into marrying him (even from childhood).
I liked the two main characters, Wendy Blanchett was a fun and spunky witch who didn’t take shit from anyone. Meanwhile Aiden Winters was a “puppy-dog eyes” dragon in human form who begged for attention. It was a fun relationship between the two of them. I especially enjoyed the interactions between Wendy and her crew and watching her work… but everything changed with what I’m dubbing “The Forced Wedding Arc”.
Essentially
...
Aiden wines about her not loving him enough for her to agree to getting married. They both travel to the dragon cave to have the person who raised him marry them… BUT WHAT HE DOESN’T TELL HER IS THAT IT’S NOT NORMAL MARRIAGE BUT INTERTWINING THEIR SOULS! They can permanently feel each other feelings, if one dies the other dies, etc. He doesn’t consult her about it (because he knows she will object) and of course she gets angry. But her anger doesn’t last for long. Knowing that she can now feel his emotions (and it effects her) he does the whole sad puppy thing and even when she is avoiding him she can feel him. She forgives him after a random apology he does. It’s so our of place and annoying. It shows that he can emotionally manipulate her until he gets what she wants.
It’s made even worse when you find out that he met her when she was a child (he’s a dragon so he’s a lot older) and found her very “interesting” then… and tracked her down as an adult to have a romantic relationship with her… not creepy at all…
All of this just ruined my perception of the manhwa and I couldn’t really enjoy it after that so I dropped it.
