Watashi no Musuko ga Isekai Tensei shitappoi is a pretty refreshing take on the isekai genre where it focuses on those who are left behind. The premise deals with a grieving mother who asks help from her highschool otaku classmate to bring back her son who she believes has been isekaid. With this premise, the manga's pretty depressing but it's also surprisingly wholesome and uplifting. It primarily focuses on how the relationship between the grieving mother and the otaku classmate grow as they both complement and influence each other in the best of ways.

Sometimes you find a story that is so catered to your tastes you'd swear it was made for you. For me, that is this manga. This is an excellent subversion of isekai tropes that uses running themes among those types of stories to say something real about the human condition.
Just to clarify, this is not an isekai. It's a slice of life that mixes comedy and dark themes that just so happens to heavily involve the isekai genre as part of its storytelling. It's funny. It's surprisingly deep, and all in all absolutely worth the read for anyone who enjoys stories that make you think ...
