Let's get this straight. This is a slow life fantasy with the usual "I'm a famous adventurer, but I want to retire now" premise. However, it is pretty good for what it is made for. Actually, one of the best in this subgenre what I've read so far. If you are expecting high octane action, or a complex story then you are at the wrong place. However, if you want to read a chill wholesome fantasy manga than this is the one you are looking for. IF...

As a fair warning: This manga contains multiple several panel long H-scenes. All of them are lovey-dovey though. I ... know it is blastphemy, but it is part of every healthy relationship, especially if we are talking about adults (like here). Although, the length of scenes felt a little bit unneccessary, an implication whould have been just fine, but it didn't subtract from the heartwarming experience for me (quite the opposite), but some of you may find offputting.

As custom for the slice of life genre there is no real overarching story. So don't expect anything like that, but again, if you don't like the subgenre why would you even consider reading this? Don't get me wrong, the writing is pretty good, the dialoges are realistic, without any unneccessary melodrama. The characters are really adorable things coated with lovey-dovey sugar syrup. I mean, it is really a feels good manga. The settings and art has a really chill and captivating atmoshpere. Honestly, I completly understand the protagonist why he wanted to settle in that specific village. It conveys the feeling of "finally a place I can call home, and I can rest".

All in all, if you are looking for a slow life fantasy manga and don't mind a few H-scenes, than this is the one you are looking for. You'll most likely enjoy it, if you sit down with the right expectations.

This manga seems at first to be incredibly average, and I will not argue with you at that. It is an incredibly average manga with next to no interesting things about it. So given that it is average you would expect that I would rate it a 5 as that is average but I have a counter. This manga is so incredibly boring. It brings absolutely nothing new to the table to present any interest. The story is very basic with an old powerful A-Rank wanting to live a slow life. There is a cute girl there and she likes him and that is the ... entire story. Nothing else of note happens with the characters being extremely flat. I cant even really rate their personality because it is nonexistent. For everyone. There is absolutely nothing memorable which I guess is a plus because at least you will not have you mind filled with this mediocre nothingness. Overall this manga is bad and not worth reading.

To be fair, I don't even know what am I reading anymore. Just in one chapter, a fluffy fantasy romance story goes into full on hentai. But I can't say I didn't enjoy it. Even though the story is nothing special, it is enjoyable and I like that the characters actually get together. Characters are nothing to write poems about, but they fit this kind of generic setting perfectly and won't make you instantly hate the manga. Art is pretty, you just can't say it's bad. Story is bleak and not really interesting, but as I said, it is still enjoyable. Overall a bit generic ... yet enjoyable manga with fluffy moments, that actually delves deeper into romantic relationships in a closed up community.

While reading this many thoughts filled my head. Like is this a hentai i just happened to cross. Or is this another boring love story that follows the same cliché that a lot of slice of life or romance manga's have. Both are correct answer! But my thoughts over all are that A-Rank Boukensha no Slow Life is nothing more than a mediocre love story that has no merit to it. My thoughts behind this are that we have a generic powerful adventure and your generic love interest vs your average villain's in any fantasy adventure manga. With the plot that a 14yr old girl ... would have written in middle school. To me this is just another cookie cutter manga with nothing interesting to add.

It started out okay. MC wanting a quiet life and in most fantasy-slow life where they are a part of a hero party, they get dragged into some political complications from either the country they were in or past grudges from their former companions. Same trope, should've expected it but it slowly becomes unexciting and somewhat a disappointment.

Characters have some background and flavour, but for the most part its the same. Cliché plot overall, bland characters, fair amount of art, and if you wish to continue reading it's best to not think of any other details besides romance and friendship.
