It deals with the aftermath of a friends suicide and what has caused it to happen, or at least what her best friends believes has caused this to happen, as this is from her perspective.

Generally, i'd recommend you give it a chance.
the main character is shouting a lot of the time, but that's her expression of her feelings throughout the story.
The "side" characters get some form of expansion on their characters, apart from 1 which feels odd considering what the character represents..?

the art is beautiful though, story boarded really well.
the story is straight forward too with its goal being easy ... to see coming, but still a recommendation from me to at least give a go.

My Broken Mariko is about a woman who reminisces about the times she spent with her best friend after she learns that her best friend committed suicide. But it's too short for a work that deals with topics such as suicide, abuse, longing, and sometimes regret and anger. There is no story in particular, and for the reason I just mentioned about it being way too short, there isn't enough time to connect with or empathize with the characters. While the feelings of a woman who lost her best friend and her anger towards life in general are beautifully presented at times, I think the ... manga fails to deliver any message. In addition, the most unacceptable part for me is that the manga does not reach any conclusion.

I won't comment on whether to recommend it or not because despite the problems I mentioned above, it is a very short manga that does not require much time.

Nothing happens, no one grows or changes. Ending isn't satisfying. Artwork is cool and intentionally grotesque, (fits the story really well.) I think this may just be too short to handle all of the subjects that it throws at us, or follow the main character's journey and grieving process.

By far the worst part is the non ending. Why not just actually show the whole thing? It wasn't very well built up to, so there wasn't suspense leading up to it; it felt like something that should happen midway through the story, and it didn't even register as a final panel at first. I don't ... mind cliffhanger endings, but this is the kind of thing that should just be shown, and not left up to interpretation.

This story has two main themes: The grieving process and abuse. Neither of these get develop or get talked about in any meaningful way, we just see them happen. Perhaps this would have worked better had it been about twice as long. There's not much that happens. The plot is that the main character is upset, and nothing else really happens. Mariko isn't really even given a personality.
