You've read a story like this, and it's been done better. Guy secretly likes the girl and she starts to warm up to him. If you've never read anything like that before you might like this, but it's been done to death and much better than done here.

It's filled with stereotypes and offers almost nothing unique. The writing itself isn't bad exactly, but it's not what I'd call good either. Then the characters, for what felt like most of the book, aren't being particularly nice to each other and are generally inconsistent and I couldn't stand how the girl was basically the guy's mom ...

I tried to give this novel a chance, many chances, but the more I read, the more unreadable it got. I will never forgive the reviews for hyping this so much.

However, I don't think that's because the story itself is bad, but because the medium through which is delivered and the way it's executed is very poor. For me the main problem was that there were so many exposition dumps, bluntly telling the reader what the characters feel, without leaving space for interpretation, constantly switching up the emotions and thoughts of the MCs (I mean from 3-4 paragraphs apart), making them inconsistent (but still predictable), ...
