Synopsis

When the often absent parents of Saneatsu Asada gift him the novel About Her, that is the moment that his love story with Hotaru begins. He becomes completely enamored of the girl with rose-pink hair, red stud earrings, cat eyes, and a beauty spot at the corner of her mouth. Asada unconsciously compares every person that he dates to Hotaru, and his relationship always ends once his lover realizes that they will forever be second-best in his heart.

One day, Asada falls asleep in the school library while reading his favorite novel yet again. Upon waking, he is convinced that he is finally meeting Hotaru in the flesh. The alluring figure in front of him looks exactly as described in the pages that he has lovingly memorized. Though this vision of Hotaru is male and goes by the name of Nao Nimiya, to Asada it is as if his fated partner has miraculously come to life. However, that would seem too good to be true—and it is written that Hotaru dies.

Imagine changing yourself for the person you love and letting them believe your are someone else, and is different inside (physically and figuratively). It like revamping your whole self to a 360 on something you are holding on for. In Nimiya's case, he fell for the easy going Asada and thought the only way for him to notice him, and hopefully fall in love with, is to be the subject of Asada's affection be it a fictional character.
