Both are realistic journeys of someone who has an ambitious and hard goal they strive to reach. Both protagonists constantly get shot down but refuse to give up! Baby Steps tends to be more optimistic whereas Bambino can get heavy and gloomy.  

Although Bambino! is more about Italian cuisines, but the smell of freshly cooked meals that makes your tummy growl and your mouth watery connects them :D 

both of them about cooking. 

Both are about intense cooking, although they are at completely different ends of the realistic spectrum.
