While their paths eventually diverge due to the aspect of slavery and the church's influence in one of the stories, the general outline of the stories is very much the same, with the main character being chased out of the hero's party by an arrogant mage who is jealous of their close relationship with the hero, whom they want for themselves, and sees them as a weakling holding the party back. The protagonist believes the whole party, including the hero, being behind this, and eventually starts a new life together with a girl they saved. Their former party, on the other hand, starts realizing how much the protagonist actually helped them outside of fights, and starts falling apart without them. read more
