To preface this, I am a Ryuu Fujisaki fan, and have read all of his works. Hoshin Engi is definitely one of my favorites, and a series I hold in high regard. Additionally, this manga is not completely translated in English, however there are Hong Kong translations available that you can translate yourself to read.

Story: The story of the manga occurs after the end of the Hoshin Engi manga, but I wouldn't go as far to call it a sequel, as it is more of side story than anything. Without spoiling much, Taikoubou meets another of the first people and gets sent into the ... past, sparking a 7 chapter plotline that is kind of all over the place. The story feels like it could've been resolved within 2 or 3 chapters, but is stretched so that we get opportunities to interact with old characters and cram in more action. 4/10

Art: For being a much newer manga than the original Hoshin Engi, the art is no where near the same level of quality. Many of the characters are drawn differently and the action scenes are slightly confusing to follow. However the art is still quite impressive regardless and the paneling is well done. 7.5/10

Characters: Not much to say here, we all know Hoshin Engi has great characters. However, the actions of the new characters seem to only occur to drive the reintroduction of old characters. 8/10

Overall: 6/10
