To know that you are not the only "different" one, to understand those who are different from you, here is what I felt for those stories. Both manga deal with subjects that I found very interesting, in the sense that although they talk about subjects that can be sensitive/taboo for some people, you get to be immersed in the person's situation and to understand (at least a bit more) their point of view, to see that there are many more people who look like you than you might think. So these are 2 stories that are quite simple but that have something to make you think about. read more 

Differences and acceptence. Changes and growth. Stories about troubled kids that find comfort from one another and grow together. Both brought up unusual topics to the table but very much relevant in real life. The stories are told through a passage of time as we see the characters grow in age and mind. Finally, they share a somewhat calm atmosphere through its art and storytelling.
