Synopsis

Oboreru Knife tells the story of Natsume, a sixth-grade girl who has to move from Tokyo to a decidedly different town in the countryside. Upon meeting a boy named Kouichirou there, "something" stirs inside her. The story depicts a "teen heart on the brink of ruin."

This manga is super edgy. The storyline was unexpected and really digs deep into each character's sense of purpose after experiencing crisis, relationships, and growing up. The main characters have bold personalities (be prepared) and are hard to understand at times but as the series progresses, I couldn't help but want to try and understand why they thought or acted the way they did. It was pretty creepy at times too, especially with some side characters in particular. This is definitely not a wholesome shoujo (no doki doki moments for me). More like a drama-filled maybe josei genre with an agreeable ending.

Anyone who calls this a love story is out of their minds. This is a manga about two psychotic and truly mentally troubled individuals. Case and point the male lead nearly drowns the female lead by chapter 2 as a power move. All the characters except the female lead's secondary love interest are awful human beings, the secondary love interest being the direct opposite and the only good and upstanding person in the manga, so obviously she obliterates his heart and NTRs him.

Reading this manga will not leave you feeling happy. You will finish it and hate the characters. It is an amazing manga ...

I think this was my first manga where I really wanted to scream at the characters, even though I understantood their motives and thoughts.
I should really give credit to the author for how well she depicted the way people tend to put other individuals on a pedestal, looking at them like they are some Gods. This is a thing most kids are doing just to later realise that those so called Gods are normal people too and their image of them is broken.
The only problem I had is that I hoped some of the characters will mature a bit more in the end, but ...
