Synopsis

Dolls are living plant life forms that look like beautiful women which can be purchased at a special shop for the right price. But be careful what you wish for. Set in an upside-down world combining a murky mix of science fiction, reality and moral ambiguity, Yumiko Kawahara's short stories examine the ineffable disparities that exist between the lover and the loved one.

You may have to read a few chapters to begin to 'get' this manga, and realize it is not just strange, but also wondrous, in a dreamy laid back yet profoundly thought provoking way. Each chapter a story. Most of them with an original and/or surprising plot. A true hidden gem.

I am male, and I found that of no hindrance to enjoying this manga. I actually felt the the story talking to my 'inner male'.

Preliminary (14/25 eps)
I really like this manga, I found it totally by accident, and it's one of the few I read that's specifically aimed at girls and you can sort of see why. The stories are all really touching and enjoyable to read and the shop owner that appears in them all is great, sometimes he's funny in a really sarcastic way, and sometimes he's really sincere and kind, and the dolls are so pretty and have this way of instantly gaining your sympathy. Now I want a Plant Doll too!
