Synopsis

Haruka Kawarazaki, a young man aspiring to be a manga artist, and Mayuko Kawarazaki, a beautiful woman to whom everyone looks back. They live in a room in a flat, share a meal every night, and lay on each other's skin. But they are not husband and wife. Mada Nakunatteinai Hito (Wives Who Has Not Yet Passed Away) is a manga that, at first glance, may look like a very wholesome romance manga. But the title already spoils you: something bad will happen at anytime, and those happy times will not remain forever. In my opinion, that's the best thing about this manga; you get anxious thinking about when everything will start to go wrong.

About the art: The art is not the prettiest thing that you will ever see, but it is not bad either. My only complaint about it is that everyone looks horny in this manga most of the time.

By now it seems obvious that Saotome Yagi is just bad at wrapping up her storylines. Much like her other more prominent work ('Bokutachi wa Hanshoku wo Yameta'), this one starts out pretty intense. Thriller, drama, mystery - it has it all, and their mixture keeps you alert and on the edge.

Unfortunately, by the final third of volume 4 and throughout the final volume 5, it all goes downhill. The resolution of the main conflict is there, but it's weak and too jumbled. In no way does it match the intensity of the manga's earlier chapters.

Some people might dislike Saotome Yagi's art, but I dig ...
