Known as "Not Your Idol" in the US translation. This is the best shoujo manga I have read. This is a psychological thriller, a crime mystery, and romance. From the synopsis, I was hooked. This is like Japan's Extracurricular, the hit kdrama that came out last year. I'd rank it highly, next to Glass Mask and Princess Tutu. I'd even categorize this as a jousei manga due to the level of maturity and self awareness from the characters and the direction. What this tells is highly relevant, especially now more than ever, especially with the unsteady social and racial climate that is coming out of ... 2021 in NYC. The writing is done very well. This mangaka is young but extremely talented. I have to remark on how detailed her panels are.

This is story that needs to be told, irregardless of the shoujo like tendencies. I want to see where it goes and who's the real culprit, whom is introduced in the first chapter. Basically I want more. I need more.

This manga goes above and beyond what you think the shoujo genre should. I'd say this is on par with Korea's kdrama Extracurricular. The writing is very good. I thought I have read all the hit shoujo mangas/jdramas, but this manga is that good. I haven't read anything in a while where all the characters are self actualized and self aware.

The mangaka is currently recovering from getting sick, according to the Japanese Twitter feeds, hence it being on hiatus.

I bought the two volumes at B&N. It's that good.

Despite being label a shoujo under Ribon Magazine this story speaks about important issues like sexual harassments, double standards, idol expectations, gender roles honestly I love it. Yes, it is dark but its realistic. The main character has trauma from being assaulted and is slowly trying to learn more about herself and is even being a supporting figure to other people who are in similar situations. It has the regular cute art style but that doesn't draw away from the real problems at hand.

It's called Not Your Idol in English and is being published under VIZ so I really recommend reading it.

I might be over-exaggerating to some people, but I think this manga is seriously incredible ! I love classic shojo manga art with a cute heroine with big eyes. All the characters have been drawn beautifully and I usually take a long time reading this because I'm staring at the art.

I have read 2 volumes, volume 2 really hit me hard with the darker themes for shojo manga that was written in here. I love the story because it is NOTHING like any other shojo manga I've read! It does exaggerate the dialogue a little bit (if you read it you'll know), but it ... talks about real issues girl face in real life. That stands for boys too, but the manga is talking about the girls. The story is so different from other shojo manga I've read and it's so engaging, I can't wait for them to release the next volume.

The characters are reacting and responding in ways that you would think and hoped they would. There isn't any character that I have seen yet that feels fake. Most shojo manga I've read had characters that are very human, but others I've read really only exist for the sake of it being a manga.

It's not just a manga about romance and idols, its also very psychological and dramatic.
