I really like the poetic nature of this anime. My favorite aspects are, the poetic nuance, mystery, and fictional elements. awesome, I've got two of these on my backlog so now I HAVE to watch them before others!!!

that's on my backlog, I definitely NEED to watch it. it'll probably be the first anime I check out after I finish the several I'm currently watching. thanks for your time and input :)

hm i think Great Pretender is quite good.. also from the other suggestions I've seen I reckon Yuukoku No Moriarty is not as good but still pretty good and Vanitas is even less good but not bad

If you want some seinen stuff from other genres
Please watch Monogatari Series, 3-Gatsu No Lion (not much to do with mystery but it has really good poetic nuances and the reflection between human behavior & Shogi is really beautiful)

baccano! for the action and mystery aspect, plus the vibes are similar style wise
shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu for the mystery mainly and the homoerotic tension between the protagonists LOL (it's very light I'm joking) anyways it also includes a traditional japanese form of storytelling, rakugo. the stories are pretty entertaining

It can’t be a masterpiece like bsd but Vanitas no Karte (the case study of vanitas) is similar and at the same level as bsd. Black butler is also good like bsd.

I personally like this show. One thing that isn’t necessary is the super powers. I would be fine if this was just a normal organised crime anime. But that’s just my opinion. And it’s still hype when they use their powers. And the way they deal with depression and feeling isolated is very solid. There are shows that do it better, but Bsd does it in a way where it’s almost optimistic.

Anime I think are similar to Bsd would probably be Baccano or jojo part 5. But that’s just the organised crime genre in general.

i can recommend kyoukai no kanata's two movies , most of the mysteries are being solved there ( i saw that you watched the series but movies also worth giving a shot imo )

Since everybody has said Vanitas, I’d suggest Pandora Hearts.
