It bothers me way too much. I enjoy reading stories that combine several genres, especially if it's about romance so I was thrilled to watch
Bota's affections for Kana deepen
Before arguing that this manhwa is not a romance manhwa, ponder why the author left so many hints pointing to the development of a romance subplot in the first place. We witness
Bota and Sonia's chemistry develop at first, but she promptly quits after seeing how Bota reacts to Kana
Okay, sometimes this occurs even in real life, I remarked, and the manhwa had a long way to go, so I shrugged and went on. Following that, there emerged traces of romance between
Bota and Kana. Bota was utterly platonic, but given how she was gazing to Bota near the end of the manhwa, I'm sure even Kana developed feelings for him. Bota and Kana were at least 10-15 years apart in age, yet age didn't matter because by the end of the manhwa, Bota was 23 years old and a fully formed adult. So age could hardly be the reason the author abandoned the romance between them
There's no logical reason for why he dropped it. I believe this is an excellent example of why you shouldn't include romance in every story if you're not going to give readers a definite and satisfactory wrap up.
I still rated it an 8 because of its uniqueness and exceptional story.

Just as pure oxygen is harmful to the body, the naked truth has the power to destroy men's minds. Only by diluting it with lies and taking it in small doses can humans maintain a healthy soul.
I liked the story but yes there are a lot of points that I would like to be touched, after finishing the main subject they should have closed the other subjects, just like solo leveling did.

I'm with you on that, the author should have written a few more chapters to conclude his work's other areas. I may sound like a douchebag, but this feels not conclusive enough for my tastes. Let's hope he at least writes some afterstory just focusing on human relationships, just like Solo Leveling did, even though it's a fat chance to happen :/

I'm with you on that.
But since this post is almost 4 years old... I'm guessing this story will be included in my "good ride with poor finish" list. :'(
@Ab3hL7
Could you tell me what happens in side stories? After 2 years I don't care about the story that much honestly so I'm open to spoilers.

@Bard_Eren Sure! There are only a few chapters, and I think it's worth reading even though it's been two years.
In short, the romantic subplot between Bota and Kana is resolved.
Four years have passed since the end of the war in the Nest. Peace reigns on the seas thanks to Rita's dominance over her vast territory.
We see Kana, Bota, and Rita spending ordinary everyday moments as a family on Apple Tree Island. A tragic subplot begins (so we don't forget this is Leviathan), where we learn the story of a harpooner named Rio and his daughter Sia, who disappeared from the island after a typhoon hit. This plot serves as an opportunity to introduce us to the current state of the seas and the leviathans, in addition to the main point: resolving the unresolved situation between Bota and Kana.
During the new events in this subplot, we see Bota and Kana's POV, showing us how they feel about each other, what kind of relationship they have, what they want from each other. The subplot ends with the recognition that the leviathans continue to evolve and that the interspecies conflict remains latent.
Days later, a boat arrives on the island with the intention of bringing young people from different places together to form couples. This prompts Bota to remind Kana that he is still waiting for her response.
Finally, Bota declares his love, and Kana acknowledges that Bota's feelings for her are mutual, and they end up as a couple. A beautiful and touching ending.
I hope the authors decide to continue it in the future, because the story has a lot to offer. I'd like to know what will happen to Rita as the current queen and how the underlying problem between humans and the new leviathan queens who oppose Rita will be resolved. I'd also like to see the role Bota and Kana will play as the last leviathan slayers in the world, helping Rita, and see more of the remaining harpooners. I'd also like to see more of the doctor and find out if they find a cure for sea sickness and what progress he's made in his leviathan research. Ultimately, I think there's enough content left to develop the story a little further.
@Ab3hL7 after reading what you told me, who knows I might give it a shot. It seems lovely. Many thanks for the effort you put into it.
