With what we’ve seen, Kaido wins.

There’s a lot of mystery around Shank’s capabilities but if he’s no longer able to fight Mihawk after losing his arm it’s a safe bet to assume we can scale him under Mihawk.

I'm pretty sure the point mad in the story is that shanks can no longer scale to Mihawk is swordsmenship, not overall power. I think it was also mentioned that Shanks had the potential to get the world's strongest swordsmen title, but when he lost his arm he no longer could beat Mihawk in SWORDSMENSHIP.

This really shows how stupid one piece fans are, the narrator (oda) himself said in a 1v1 always bet on kaido

shanks is a swordman he use mainly sword oda himself tell it before shanks lose his arm he was at the same level as mihawk and whitebeard sometime watched sometime the fight between them but After he loose his strong arm he become weaker than mihawk

Shanks did hold off Kaido from his take over of whitebeard’s territory, however it was unclear if Kaido decided to get off his lazy ass for this or if it was his all stars work, depending on the answer it can change the outcome of this fight. If shanks had the ability to use both his arms would the effect of the battle change?

When we met after the timeskip kaido he was on sky island so it makes me believe he was there during the battle with shanks’ crew, also meaning shanks managed to fight kaido off, or this may even be a tactic for shanks to gain the upper hand in reputation, theories considering he has ties with the WG highers included here, I think it was more a fight for something they wanted them to really protect whitebeards honor (or something similar)

Especially with how whitebeard treats shanks as a ‘brat’ rather then the powerful captain he’s become.

But back to the kaido vs shanks thing, I’m affirmed to believe shanks solos with even stats and in timeline perspective.

Edit: for those talking about the mihawk scaling I’m pretty sure that was more because mihawk doesn’t want to face someone who lost their main arm in swordsmanship and was more of a temporary threat, mihawk has been quite busy recently so I highly doubt he’s had the time to hunt shanks down with how unusual his movements between islands are.

One more thing to consider, shanks haki is abnormally strong in the conquerors specifically, and if that says anything of his arrmorment and observation haki then we can expect big things. This is based on the assumption haki is talent based (snipers have good observation swordsmen good arrmorment etc.)

we haven't seen how powerful shanks is, he has only appeared in around 5 episodes but the Navy's fear when they saw him in marineford speaks volumes

but when it is said that he is no longer able to fight Mihawk? And Mihawk who is no longer interested in fighting Shanks given the loss of his arm, and it was Shanks himself who launched the challenge to Mihawk, not to mention that Shanks' strong point is the haki, not the sword

It is never said, and Kaido himself considered Shanks one of the people able to put him in trouble, not to mention that Shanks managed to stop Kaido already 2 years ago, and to return in time to stop a war against the navy

the loss of the arm will certainly have weakened Shanks, but to say that Mihawk is superior seems to me an exaggeration, when Shanks himself with one blow defeated both Kid and Killer who had just returned victorious from Wano against big mom and kaido, while Mihawk at Marineford he didn't even manage to stop a Luffy pre time skip, and he couldn't even take out Vista...

Imagine thinking that shanks would actually win lol

It would be a very tough fight, but Kaido would win. No way that shanks is going to defeat kaido.

Shanks who stopped Kaido in Marineford saga 2 years ago, Shanks who defeated Kid and Killer with one hit, while Kaido failed to kill Kinemon by infusing king's haki into his mace, Kaido himself considers Shanks one of the few able to get him into trouble, not to mention Shanks has the most powerful haki in the world...

@Leon888  to be fair, we don’t know if they actually engaged in combat two years ago. It’s still a mystery so that’s really unfair to take into account. Also, Kaido has defeated stronger characters that Kienmon? And Kaido pretty much considers shanks as a respectable opponent who could give him a good fight, but it was never said that Kaido thinks that Shanks could defeat him. Also, I have only read till 1060 so if you’re gonna reply, don’t spooil the future content!

But if he mentally apologizes to the redhead because he says he will be serious, and it is he himself who proposes to Vista to stop their duel, if he were so strong why doesn't he kill Vista right away? why doesn't he kill Luffy too? Mihawk is overrated

That was not a 1v1. kaido fought 9 oden retainers, Yamato, 5 worst generation members. He was doing this while lifting onigashima with most of his power. he was drunk. Then he defeated luffy 2 times, plot armour coming in clutch to save him.oh, he defeated one CP9 member too. so, it was not a 1v1. kaido was fighting everyone without a break while luffy took breaks between the fights. watch one piece before saying anything.

I accidentally voted kaido but I wanna say shanks because once Luffy unlocked gear 5 he defeated kaido easily and I think shanks will be the final fight and Luffy is just gonna get stronger and shanks has to be hard to beat
