There's many interpretations for this scene with Hayama. Hayama felt bad about using Hachiman for the request in episode 2 cos of how it affected his relationship with Yukino/Yui. He wanted to make up for it in some way. We're not sure if he always intended to have this outburst cos it looks like it came out of nowhere and his words "I wish I could have done it better" indicated it wasn't and just a reactionary response to how Hachiman was being treated by the two girls. However at the same time, considering he previously offscreen arranged for Yukino and Yui to appear at the coffee shop, it implies it was planned. I kinda believe he intended to bring Hachiman on this date then meet Yukino/Yui after for the discussion for the student council president election to show Hachiman to help him move on from Orimoto and show him that he has a good friendship with Yukino/Yui and shouldn't destroy it. But ofc the way the girls were talking shit about Hachiman, he couldn't stand it any longer and told them off. Now regarding the actual outburst, he did it to stand up for Hachiman. But he intentionally did it in a way that makes himself look bad. Making himself the villain. This is something Hachiman was surprised to see. Basically he was showing Hachiman a reflection of how he usually does things. And it doesn't feel good. Hayama tells him this. He wanted to help Hachiman realize his worth and understand he has a good relationship with people who truly care about him. Hayama's words of "wanting to fix what he broke" has also many meanings too. For one, he was doing it to fix Hachiman's relationship with the girls. But he was also doing it to fix his relationship with Yukino. Its been said in previous episodes that Hayama and Yukino went to the same school once upon a time, what with how close their families were. We've known how much Yukino was bullied in the past and its been theorized or implied I forget that Hayama was there but didn't do anything about it. It would explain their icy relationship. Yukino's extra cold to him specifically for some reason. Remember back in the camp arc when they were trying to help Rumi. Hayama said he wanted to help her and Yukino made a quick stab at him with the line "you couldn't before, so you can't do it now." |

That's why Hayama said sorry when they were all walking off after all was said and done between Ebina, Hachiman and Tobe. He knew even tho he didn't like Hachiman's methods, he felt sick that he made him do it anyway for his own selfish desire to keep his friendship close. And prob knowing he just directly created conflict for their friendship.. he was apologizing for that too. |

Telling her that she hasn't changed at all despite Yukino doing everything to seperate herself from them to prove her independance. Despite her little rebellion against her family, she's still copying them in terms of her behavior which is no different. She probably also intentionally pushed her buttons by again telling her what she herself would have done and see what she does. Haruno told Yukino that she didn't go for student council president and made a remark at how Yukino is also following in her footsteps, "proving" she isn't being independant at all. And what do you know, end of the episode has Yukino putting herself in for President. Hook, line and sinker. Can you really call that independance if all your actions are heavily influenced by other people? Just the fact her little comment was enough to push her into it, shows that yeeah she hasn't really changed. |

Every one of these characters have layers to what drives their actions. Just like us human beings, we have different emotional responses to different things that happen in our environment. We're not sure what truly pushed Yukino to become president. It could one or all of these reasons 1. Yukino was already thinking of it as another way to prove Hachiman wrong that problems can be truly solved without anyone having to become the scapegoat. Haruno's influence was just the final push to have her do it. Or it could be 2. It was all Haruno's influence that made her choose to become president. Yukino had no other alternative idea on how to solve the problem and was given the idea by Haruno. But all this really does is prove Haruno right that Yukino really isn't independant and is just relying on others. Just like how she was before as a spoiled child of the Yukinoshita family. |

How did she end up in the same (cause I thought hayato planned all of this with her) and...There's many interpretations for this scene with Hayama. Hayama said he wanted to help her and Yukino made a quick stab at him with the line "you couldn't before, so you can't do it now." Can u explain her scene.if u please? When she showed up to yukinon Despite her little rebellion against her family, she's still copying them in terms of her behavior which is no different. 1. |
