As I said the anime studio is tweaking the original story bit by bit quite often now. Things were proceeding pretty smoothly till the kidnapping part, after that it almost felt like the studio staff is almost forcing the lewd moments onto Rudeus.
Originally Rudeus is quite perverted, but only till the point where its pretty funny. But here, the anime took it to the point where it makes the viewer uncomfortable. The only thing the anime version of Rudeus mostly think of in Boreas Mansion is making the viewer uneasy and force him/her to think is it really appropriate?

That Eris skirt scene, Philp's protection dialogue, peeking Roxy's figure these where the scenes which were in LN but the monologues often made up the overall feeling into funny.

The anime studio just depicted these scenes thinking of them as fan service maybe. But it ended of being controversial and making its viewers uneasy.

Apparently, Mushoku Tensei is the anime studio's i.e. Studio Bind's First anime project. So, maybe it could be called naivety to mistake such controversial topics as fanservice and animate them regardless of the original story. Though talking about the Studio they did a pretty commendable job with action packed scenes and animation, But that always isn't what make a job well done.

Of course Whenever a LN is produced into an anime, The trimming of monologues always becomes a problem. Most studios tend to pull it of pretty well recognizing just how much is enough for the character to receive required development. But in this case it almost felt like the monologues where intentionally cut out in away which made our Rudy look like a trashy bastard who only thinks of perverted things over feelings.
The bed Scene in this episode is the biggest example of that. The original monologue from the LN was pretty good and Rudeus actually feels responsible which instead of leaving a Trashy experience like in the anime leaves a pretty wholesome experience. Even the manga adaptation of this scene pulled a really good job. Like I was actually looking forward to this scene. But I was left disappointed with uneasiness.

Anyways, if you want enjoy a bit more but are unable to. Try once with the manga at least. I started reading manga after a few episodes of the anime were aired and I ended up catching up to it in no time. It was a very good experience. I also caught up with LN afterwards which was great too. So, please don't blame it on rudues. It's funny to say it but yo! rudeus is not like this originally.
[Other LN or Manga readers Kindly share your experience and views too]

You probably dont know but the english publisher of the novel tweaked the og novel to make rudeus appealing. The studio is deeply following the og japanese novel. I suggest go check the original novel and see for yourself

But, as the WN is the original one, maybe they are following it instead of the LN or the manga?

nope they are following the LN, but what OP is saying is right in a way. The studio emphasizes all the pervy scenes but heavily skipping on the monologues that happen just after. It makes Rudy appear worse than he actually is. Best example is the bed scene in the latest ep.

After Eris rejects him, he regrets it so much that he decides to pack up and leave the next day and says how he should just die on the road as trash since trash in old world is still trash in new world. He also ruminates on how he has broken the trust of a child who was doing everything she can to make him feel less lonely and he took advantage of that. The studio really should have spent 20 seconds more on that part, but they didn't.
Nagatsuki Tappei (ReZero): It goes without saying that "Mushoku Tensei" is interesting, but first of all, it's amazing that you were able to depict the life of one character, Rudy. People say that "CLANNAD" is life, but for me, "Mushoku Tensei" is life

Probably not, but I do suggest that you should read the Web Novel.

eh, why? just read and watch both if you want. There are like 3 eps left, why drop now. If you really want to explore the story, yeah sure read the LN. Anyways, once you start reading you will want to come back to the anime anyways just to see how they animate some of the more awesome scenes. And like the animation in MT is like as high as you can get apart from Ufotable.

I'm not really sure about the difference between the LN and the WN, but in the WN, Rudeus really was a piece of shit from the start. I think the manga is the worst of them all, it's decent but the WB blows it out of the water. IMO, most of the changes aren't that big. They could easily fill in the extra details in later episodes if they want. A good example of their changes is episode 5, which changes some details but allowed them to add more of their own which is great. They could probably be setting up Rudy to be even more of a piece of shit to make his development even more satisfying.

Personally I feel like the anime is not only making a great adaptation but also a faithful one. Were not really sure about how things might go, but if they change the tone drastically in the next episode and make all of the changes worth it, great , but if not then we'll see.

I might check out the manga eventually. I would not mind the anime adapting more of the monologue parts. The mc is already established as a perv so I really do not mind it.

I doubt it’s inexperience from the studio, it’s a bunch of directors and animators who have worked on tons of stuff. The studio was also literally with the soul purpose of adapting mushoku tensei and nothing else. And I’m honesty so tired of people looking for anyway to defend rudeus. People are so afraid of a mc who is likable and problematic that they just ditch one of the two. If anything the scenes making Rudy look like a massive piece of shit are better. Isn’t the whole point him trying to become a better person in the first place?

Wow Someone finally hit the correct point. Yes I am defending rudeus. I dont like it when i often see forms based on controversy over rudeus. I want people to get to know things which are important through monologues. So i want to make people read the LN. Cause i think it will give rudeus a zone where its character development will take place without controversies. Telling people to accept him as it is wasn’t helping. So i came up with an excuse that LN is better and anime is tweaked to get atleast a few people to LN. Lol but all i got was people proving me wrong. Its funny. Anyways have a good day everyone

I think the people who read the ln or manga are facing that problem because these little changes makes it feels different from manga and ln. Anime onlies like me are still just exploring the character and personality of MC and have no solid characteristics of Rudy in us which also make every decision or behaviour of Rudy feels new.
